JTS Donated Books to EGST

The Johannelund Theological Seminary, JTS Student Union donated books and transaction certificate worth 7,767 Swedish Kronor/SEK to EGST on March 25, 2017 during a week-long study tour in Addis Ababa from March18-26, 2017. A team of eleven visitors including students, faculty and missionaries from JTS, Uppsala met EGST Director, visited EGST facilities, took part in monthly worship and attended a briefing on church growth focusing on EKHC experiences.


EGST Facilitated Book Contributions to Ethiopian Seminaries

The Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology (EGST) together with Theological Book Network (TBN) facilitated the delivery of 15,320 books (467 boxes) scheduled to be distributed for fifteen different theological seminaries based in Ethiopia including EGST.

Sara Demissie, EGST Head Librarian remarked that “TBN designated EGST for this library development project because of its leadership in theological education in Ethiopia.” Acknowledging the generosity of TBN and its supporters, she indicated that “the books will be extremely useful to all EGST faculty, students and staff. In addition, the books bring impact on EGST library development plan to reach 20,000 volumes at the end of this year and 40,000 volumes by 2022.”


EGST Night Piloted

An EGST Night was piloted on March 17, 2017 to promote EGST programs and admissions for potential applicants. Alumni, current students, potential applicants, and invited guests participated in the event.

Dean of Studies, Dr. Theodros Assefa and Dr. Andrew DeCort addressed the audience and explained frequently asked questions about EGST and the application/admissions procedures.

Four EGST alumni (Tekalign Nega, Endegegna Ashenafi, Hermela Solomon, and Alem Kidane) shared their testimonies about their studies at EGST and related their career development to their research and degrees earned from EGST.

Roles of Theological Institutions Recognized

The roles of Teacher Education and Theological Institutions in contributing to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Global Citizenship Education (GCE)has been recognized. This was observed in an event of UNESCO Week for Peace and Sustainable Development: The Role of Education held in Ottawa, Canada from March 6-8, 2017.
