The outgoing Ethiopia Progamme Officer, Helena Nyström on her part remarked that EGST is one of the key partners in Ethiopia in implementing quality services and extended her gratitude for the partnership over the years. ‘Religious projects highly need an actor that understands how to work with religious institutions’ Helena emphasized and she added Church of Sweden is proud of EGST for its joint ventures with the various religious leaders in the nation to ensure gender justice and health problems.
The team further visited the EGST academic and research infrastructure including the library, lecture rooms, accommodations, PhD and MTh research centers and various services of the institution. They also met Mentor Mothers at the Holeta Maternal and Child Health Project and visited beneficiary mothers and children in their homes.
The purpose of the visit was to introduce and welcome the newly appointed Ethiopia Programmes Manager, Erica Pellfolk who replaced Helena Nyström and Theological Education Officer, Mr Dawit Olika.
Church of Sweden had branded itself as ‘Act Church of Sweden’ and appointed the former Liaison Officer, Mr Brehanu Yismew as its Country Representative for Ethiopia based in Addis Ababa. EGST currently partners with CoS in implementing an academic and research programme at masters and PhD levels, runs faith leaders’ trainings, works on maternal and child health projects and related capacity building activities.
