Research is one of the major pillars of EGST as an academic institution. It has a significant place in the organizational structure with a research office and officer (Ato Daniel Yilma) in place. To this end, from August 21-23,2019, the Research office organized a three-day training on Research Ethics in collaboration with the academic staff of the Institute Review Board (IRB) of College of health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, and the national Research Ethics Review Board (NRERC), Ministry of Sciences and Higher Education.

Fundamental Principles of Research Ethics, Ethical issues in Social Sciences research, Informed consent process, Privacy and Confidentiality, Conflict of interest, Research among vulnerable population, Review Ethics Committee(REC) Standard operation Procedures, Consulting a REC/IRB and Reviewing a protocol were covered with discussion and question time after the presentation of each topic.
Certificates of participation were given to all participants at the end of the training.
