EKHC Leadership Transition and Its Implications for EGST

The Ethiopian Kale Heywet Church (EKHC) held a leadership transition ceremony on June 5, 2019 at its Head Office. The newly appointed leaders are expected to join the Ethiopian Graduate School of Theology (EGST) Council of Owners representing EKHC which has 40% share at EGST. Among other officials, the expected new members that might join EGST leadership include the re-elected President, Vice President, and General Secretary according to EGST Constitution.

On the occasion, Prof. Birhanu Kotiso, who served as Board Member of the Executive Committee and Vice President of the church and Dr. Kursi Shefeno who served the church in different capacities for many years and as General Secretary of the church for the past five years have been sendoff from their respective responsibilities.

Along with the ceremony, the newly appointed Secretary General, Vice President, the Commissioner for Development Commission, the Board and Executive Committee were warmly welcomed.

The re-elected President of the Ethiopian Kale Hiwot Church, Dr. Eyasu Elias had the pleasure of welcoming the presence of earlier fathers of the church, members of the church Executive Committees, staff of the head office, and invited guests.

President of the Evangelical Churches Fellowship of Ethiopia, Pastor Tsadiku Abdo and the General Secretary of the Interreligious Council of Ethiopian, Arch Bishop Tagay Tadele and other distinguished personalities have observed the ceremony and delivered statements of good wishes.

On the occasion, the out-going Secretary General of the church presented a sermon and shared his message and experience for the newly appointed leaders.

In addition to this, the outgoing Vice President, Prof. Birhanu Kotiso shared his experience and vision of his ministry to the new leaders.

In the presence of church fathers, Ato Shiferaw W/ Mikael gave charge to the new appointees and made a prayer for the successful stay of their ministry in the church.
