EGST Community Action Project Team Visited Rehabilitation Centre

EGST Community Action Project Team consisting of alumni, current students, staff and volunteers visited the Juvenile Delinquency Rehabilitation Center on September 20, 2019 located in Lideta Sub City of Addis Ababa City Administration. The team provided tooth pastes, tooth brushes, handballs and footballs for the teenagers under correctional administration as expression of love and New Year gift.

Ms Ruth Mekuria, Programme Facilitator at EGST said, “we aspire to serve the church and society in Ethiopia and beyond by giving attention to our close neighbors and love is much more than anything to these children and youth.” Furthermore, she called for more people to be engaged in providing service as volunteers and be part of what EGST is doing to impact the surrounding community and serve God in His world.

The EGST Community Action Project aims at be regular in offering computer skill trainings and addressing the holistic needs of the children and teenagers for their bright future and enabling them become productive citizens.

Community engagement is part and parcel of the constitution of the Ethiopian Graduates School of Theology and one of its strategic pillars to serve the church and society in Ethiopia and beyond. Since 2015 EGST has been involving in supporting the Juvenile Delinquency Rehabilitation Center located in a close distance to EGST.

It is to be recalled that the custody center requires a lot of renovation including holistic support for the children and youth who are under the guardianship of the law.
