EGST launched a Training and Capacity Building Programme (TCBP) on November 4, 2022 in its Assembly Hall. The launch programme was held after three days of training on the theme of ‘Defending the Faith through Sound Christian Doctrine and Teaching.’ Topics focused on basic interpretive approaches of the Bible, basic Christian doctrine, church leadership and stewardship, as well as church and holistic sustainable development was covered during the training. Well qualified and experienced faculty, staff, alumni members and invited instructors provided the trainings.
Opening the TCBP launch event, EGST Director Rev. Dr. Misgana Mathewos said that preparations were made to provide quality and standard training to church leaders and ministers which is now realized. He called on the first training participants to actively engage in the trainings and be ambassadors of EGST in bringing change in church and society.
Rev. Teshome Amenu, EGST Council Member, handed out certificates and officially launched the TCBP to continuously provide need based quality training to leaders and ministers. ‘Once you get TCBP trainings, you will become trainers and leaders who equip the churches with integrity and good character. You can fit anywhere,’ Rev. Amenu remarked. He further said that providing quality training is the core of higher education like EGST, and as first trainees, the participants are expected to disseminate the knowledge and the skills acquired from the training.
The detail of TCBP was presented by Mr. Mengistu Demeke, EGST TCBP Officer. The participants actively engaged, raised questions and comments and expressed their conviction to work with EGST TCBP.
